A Modern Heirloom That Points to Your Place
This isn't a compass that points north. It points to your north — the place you fell in love, the spot where she said yes, the coordinates of home. Wherever life takes you, it always knows the way back.
Built from solid maple and brass, designed to last for decades, and engineered to work without apps, accounts, or internet. This is a compass you can give to your grandkids.
Features:
StrobeCode Reprogramming: Change the destination anytime using just your phone screen — no app to download, no Bluetooth to pair, nothing to set up. Hold the compass to your screen, wait about 10 seconds, done. Your grandmother could do it. See how it works.
Built to Last: Solid maple base. H62 brass ring. Real glass. USB-C rechargeable (the same cable you use for everything else). No proprietary parts, no planned obsolescence. We designed this compass to outlive the company that made it. Our Promise.
Up to 60-Day Battery Life: The compass knows when it's sitting still and goes to sleep. Leave it on your desk for months. When you pick it up, it wakes up and points the way.
Direction and Distance: The long hand points to your destination. The short hand shows how far. GPS accurate to 10 feet under open sky — no cell signal required.
Status Mode: Tilt it upright to check battery level and GPS lock. A quick glance tells you everything.
Why No App?
Apps get abandoned. Bluetooth protocols change. Companies disappear and take their servers with them.
We wanted to build something that would still work in 20 years — something worthy of being passed down. So we made the compass completely self-contained. It doesn't need our servers. It doesn't need the internet. It doesn't need us.
If Truest North Compass closes up shop tomorrow, your compass keeps working. We even open-sourced the reprogramming tool, so you'll always be able to change the destination yourself.
That's what makes it a modern heirloom.

The Truest North Compass always guides you back to a meaningful place. From epic mountaintops to quiet corners of the heart, it remembers what matters. Durable, rechargeable, GPS-enabled, and reprogrammable with just your screen—this is more than navigation. It’s connection, crafted in maple and brass.
Your Direction. Your Destination. Always.
Unlike ordinary compasses, this one points where you decide. Reprogram any time with your phone—no app needed. Built with real GPS, premium materials, and a 100-day battery, it tracks direction and distance to any special location. It’s a compass for memories, milestones, and moments that matter.
Beautiful craftsmanship that fills me with fondness every time I look to it nestled on the bookshelf. Traveling gets a touch of whimsy watching the next destination draw nearer, while on the back the spiral of coordinates grows as we write down our favorite spot each trip. It is a symbol and a story, brilliant engineering and a work of art.

Looks beautiful
Compass is really cool, seems to work as it should. Looks great in person.
Knocking off a star because one of the screws inside the faceplate was out and rattling around inside the compass. I had to remove the faceplate and screw it back in. Not a big deal, but quality control could use another look.

Great service and response. Great product.
The actual device is a 5 star. But I ordered and paid for non glare glass and the reset button. Neither of which was on the device I received.
*** UPDATE *** Karl responded within minutes and refunded for the glass and button !! Great product and service !! Great Anniversary gift. Wife loved it. I plan to order more as gifts.

Military memory lane for our anniversary
This is the perfect gift for a dual military couple who have been to so many memorable places. We can set the coordinates to a specific location that has special meaning to us and take a trip down memory lane. What a great way to relive these moments on our 20 year anniversary.

Quality over quantity
One thing I didn’t realize before ordering this that made it even better than five stars was the amount of individual care that goes into each one. These aren’t mass produced and made one by one in a studio, which I think really increases the quality of what’s put into it. When you hold onto the compass, it feels very well-made and it’s very easy to figure out. Thank you so much for putting this together and look forward to using this in the future.

The ProxBox is truly unique and unmatched in the market
The ProxBox is truly unique and unmatched in the market. It works exactly as described and is even more impressive in person. Upon activation, it is super exciting to turn on and watch the compass and distances calibrate. Not to mention also being extremely accurate.
This isn't just for couples! - The device makes a great treasure hunt for kids or adults, and is endlessly reusable. It forces exploration to places known and unknown, and creates a great bond around a shared experience.
Creative ideas for the ProxBox include adult Treasure Hunts, Team Building Exercises for work events, Reuniting Old Friends with a shared meeting place, an added layer to any Birthday or Holiday gift (Ex: a parent or relative could hide money in the box and send the kids on a journey to gain access to the contents), or even as a Posthumous Gift from a loved one who has moved on but wants to leave a final message or memory (heck - even the Will could be hidden in the box). The options are endless.
With the ProxBox - both the Journey AND the Destination are enjoyed. Choose your own adventure!

Best 40th Birthday Present
I bought the Pro Box for my wife’s 40th birthday to hide some jewelry in. We had a tripped planned to the mountains in North Carolina, so I set it to open there. I was blown away by the quality of the compass. Karl was also awesome to work with. Our relationship got started on a celestial theme, and I really wanted the Sun, Moon, and Stars faceplate on the Pro Box, but that wasn’t an option. I emailed Karl and he made it happen.
My wife also loved it. I don’t think I’ll ever find a better gift than this. It was so satisfying to pull in the driveway of our mountain cabin and watch my wife’s face light up when the drawer opened.
(Also, the video of him being inspired by the Beacons of Gondor as a way to re-program the compass was great, huge LOTR fan)
